Red Bull New Jersey

Some New Jersey legislators are none too happy that the rebranded MetroStars have only New York in their name. The lawmakers are threatening legislation to stop the team from using their Red Bull New York logo...pointing out that the team plays in New Jersey and the majority of the fan base is from New Jersey.

If Red Bull holds fast to their current plans, and I have little doubt that the Swiss company will want to keep the New York monikor, the big sticking point may be the building of the Harrison, NJ stadium. That's where NJ officials may have their best leverage. However, recent reports out of Harrison are anything but negative. August 2006 has been targeted for the groundbreaking and with Red Bull and their financial backing on board, talk of adding a retractable roof are swirling. (Bostrom)
