Classic Photo: George believes we'll beat Mexico in Columbus. He was right. Alemania! Alemania! Alemania!

News Item: Chicago's soccer stadium is set to open this spring. Will this attract any meaningful national team games?

Bostrom:

I'm afraid that except for a few semi-meaningless friendlies, the stadium will scare off meaningful national team games because of the weather and the fear that Chicago's diverse population will bring out too many fans for the opposition.

News Item: Pat Noonan's recent injury puts his fitness for the World Cup in doubt. If healthy, does he deserve a spot on the roster?

Fritz writes:

I've never been a huge Noonan fan. in my head, rightly or wrongly, he gets lumped into "the big fish in mls/little fish anywhere else group" that includes folks like ralston, buddle, henderson, zach thornton, razov, etc.

George Writes:

If Noonan makes the team, he's probably your last guy so if he's playing, you're in big trouble anyway. Since he would be the last guy, it would be helpful if he's a good teammate (check) and can play multiple positions in a pinch (check). I need to find out whether Bruce used the entire roster (besides Keller & Meola) in '02.
