News Item: Chicago's soccer stadium is set to open this spring. Will this attract any meaningful national team games?

Bostrom:

I'm afraid that except for a few semi-meaningless friendlies, the stadium will scare off meaningful national team games because of the weather and the fear that Chicago's diverse population will bring out too many fans for the opposition.

Comments:
First of, learn how to spell. You're representing soccer fans everywhere.

Second, you're probably correct with the population, but don't overlook the weather factor. In qualifying, it's nice to bring a warm weather team into the frigid & windy weather that Chicago can offer either late or early in the year. Remember when the US made Mexico play in Columbus when it was around freezing a few years back and what an advantage it was.

I do remember that game in Columbus well. Good point about the weather being to our advantage. But having visited Columbus for the most recent U.S. - Mexico tilt, I think that the ethnic makeup of Chicago will still scare off the national team for WC qualifiers. I hope I'm wrong! Thanks for the spelling heads up. My wife's a teacher and would be ashamed as well!
